Sky Lobby and $15 Million Condos: Mandarin Oriental Comes to Atlanta
Move over, Rosewood. The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has big plans for Atlanta’s Peachtree Street. But the timing for this $285 million hotel/condo complex could be a bit worrisome– economically speaking. The skyscraper will rise 53 stories (700 feet) above Peachtree Street near 14th Street in Midtown. What’s in store besides the 198 hotel rooms and 71 condos, ranging from $1.8 million to $15 million? Well, the swanky sky lobby, for one, where guests will be treated to a spectacular view of the city from the 31st floor. There will also be a 20,000-square-foot spa, two restaurants, and a tea lounge. Construction is slated to start next year. The Mandarin Oriental will join a slew of luxury hotels on the Atlanta scene including InterContinental, Rosewood’s Mansion on Peachtree, W Buckhead, and a St. Regis and W Downtown scheduled to open next year.
