Inside New York City’s Alex Hotel - Room 304
I recently spent just one night at The Alex Hotel in New York City after a day of business meetings. I chose the property because of the competitive New York City rates, the location, and of course my goal to visit all the NYC luxury hotels.
The Alex is very convenient for people visiting Grand Central Station, the Midtown business district, the United Nations, and Park, Madison and Fifth Avenues. Located at 205 East 45th Street, it is right off the intersection of 45th and Third Avenue.
I made my reservation through the Five Star Alliance website at 6 pm, and checked in at the front desk at 6:30 pm. The lobby isn’t large, but clean and light filled - evening in the evening. I chose the most basic room type and was put in room 304 - located on the 3rd floor. It directly overlooked the front entrance and awning, was across the hall from the business center and down the hall was the fitness center, but considering all the above facts, the room was still incredibly quiet the entire evening. No cars, street traffic noise or hallway chatter. The wireless internet had good speed, the bathroom TV worked out nicely, the minibar had some nice options (not too many though) and the bed was pretty comfortable.
For New York City, and even other cities, the most basic room was an amazingly great size.
Here are some of the photos from my room:
