Check out the Colosseum with a New Nighttime Tour; Stay in Style at St. George Roma

Head to Rome this summer and you’ll be treated to some special tourist offerings that don’t happen that often. As reported by the AP, the city has launched a nighttime tour to the Colosseum and opened a slew of ancient monuments usually closed to the public– including the House of Livia (associated with the wife of Rome’s first emperor, Augustus), the House of Griffins (the oldest house discovered on Palatine Hill), and the recently-restored Temple of Romulus (never before open to visitors). These new initiatives will run through September 30, 2009. Check into the St. George Roma and you’ll enjoy an enviable location near the city’s most important monuments on historic Via Giulia, dating from the 15th century. Opened in 2007, the boutique design hotel sports chic rooms with a minimalist aesthetic. From the rooftop terrace, you can sip a cocktail and admire the view over the rooftops and domes of the Eternal City. The spa has a sauna and Turkish bath. Tip: When you book four nights this summer, you’ll save 15 percent off the best available daily rate.
