Friday Photos: Lake Okareka Lodge by lebua in Rotorua, New Zealand

As the temperatures cool in the northern hemisphere, we’re starting to daydream about heading to warmer climes. Specifically, those far-flung islands comprising New Zealand in the southwest Pacific, where October means the beginning of spring. A traveler’s dream, The Land of the Long White Cloud (so dubbed by the indigenous Maori) is enticing in more ways than one. Rotorua is the spiritual home to the Maori, known for its geothermal wonders, crystal springs, and scenic lakes.

Where to stay in Rotorua? Lake Okareka Lodge by lebua offers the ultimate in luxury. Nestled on a secluded peninsula surrounded by all this natural beauty, Lake Okareka Lodge features just three suites, including an executive suite with a lounge, spa bath, private office, and walk-in closet. Thus the lodge is booked to only one family, couple, or group at a time (needless to say, these guests are pampered with every conceivable luxury). Also on site: a private jetty and boathouse, a personal chef who prepares elegant five-course dinners, private beaches and a helipad.
