The World’s Best New Year’s Eve Parties: Mardan Palace on the Turkish Riviera
Picked somewhere exciting to watch the ball drop on TV ring in the new year? If a last-minute splurge is a possibility, think Turkey. The stretch of gorgeous coastline around Antalya, called the Turkish Riviera, is going off. Judging by the spectacular opening party that Mardan Palace threw for itself– the most lavish in history– this Turkish Riviera hot spot is the place to be for NYE. A long line of celebrities, Paris Hilton in tow, checked into the ultra-luxury resort in May for the gala celebration that’s been likened to “the kind of decadence that would make a Roman orgy look like a model of unassuming self-restraint.” The Guardian describes the foodstuffs on hand at the resort’s opening party: “great big buckets of Beluga caviar, free-flowing rivers of vintage Bollinger, the kind of desserts that make you want to break down and weep.” So ladies and gentlemen, the resort’s New Year’s Eve party– featuring “a parade of stars”– is *the* place to be.
